Empowering growth and excellence beyond college admissions

Education Philosophy

Catalyst Education seeks to help students and families understand the college admissions process better and guides them to strategise their distinct pathways towards admission.

We understand that success means different things for each student. Therefore, Catalyst Education believes in empowering all students to take ownership of their high school and college admissions journey by actively exploring their interests, testing their limits and expanding their worldview.

We are focused on delivering value to students and families not only through gaining admission into their choice colleges, but also through developing lifelong skills and values that will put them in good stead in college and thereafter.

Consultant Background

Nicole graduated with First Class Honours in History and Politics from the University of Oxford.

In making her university choices, she had a hard time deciding between Duke University in the United States and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Even though she was set on a liberal arts education in the United States, she ultimately chose Oxford for its tutorial system and close-knit college community.

Her own application journey taught her that a deep, holistic understanding of her own aspirations and a keen appreciation of what "college fit" meant were essential in defining her own success and happiness in the process.

A well-known college might not be equally great or good for each student. Each and every student has different academic goals, career aspirations and unique environmental preferences. The conditions for each student to thrive and live full, meaningful lives are different.

As such, she seeks to help students as they navigate their own journeys towards finding their success and happiness at a college they would be proud of calling their own.

Track Record

Nicole has mentored more than 180 students across East Asia, Southeast Asia and Australasia.

Her students have won admission to selective US colleges such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Penn, Chicago, Caltech, Duke, Northwestern, Dartmouth, Cornell and Georgetown. She has also supported students to win admissions at selective liberal arts colleges such as Williams, Amherst, Wellesley, Carleton, Colby, Smith and Bryn Mawr.

She has also helped more than 20 students gain admission to Oxford and Cambridge for a variety of subjects, including: Law, Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE), History and Politics, Natural Sciences and Engineering.
